The Seminary's motto is 'Preach the Word' and this is reflected in the seminary logo. The mandate of the Seminary is to fulfill the Great Commission as recorded in Matthew 28:19 by trainingPreaching the Word pastors, youth pastors, children ministers, missionaries and Christian leaders to take the Gospel into South Africa, Africa and the entire world.

The Cape Town Baptist Seminary’s Mission is to cultivate Christ-like leaders striving to transform lives and society Biblically by Training the Head, the Heart and the Hands.
Our vision is to make theological education available to every person in who feels called to some form of ministry.

The Seminary seeks to ensure that churches are served by pastors who are adequately equipped for all aspects of ministry including Youth and Children's Ministry and that those entering into the mission field receive the best possible theological preparation to face the challenges of spreading the good news and thereby to transform society.

We also equip missionaries and church planters for cross-cultural ministry, resulting in the establishment of vibrant congregations whose members become active, mature followers of Jesus Christ.

About Us

After much investigation and debate, the 1972 Baptist Union Assembly, meeting at King William's Town, approved a motion that a Western Province branch of the Baptist Theological College of South Africa, be established in Cape Town, which would admit students of all races.

Cape Town Baptist Seminary was previously known as The Baptist Theological College of South Africa, Cape Town. The name change took place in September 2001.

This Seminary offers tuition on a full-time, part-time and distance-learning basis. Students may specialize in Pastoral Ministry, Missions, Youth Ministry or Children's Ministry. The Seminary offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in cooperation with the University of Pretoria and is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a Private Higher Education Institution as reflected on certificate No 2000/HE08/005
