CTBS Students

While Cape Town Baptist Seminary (CTBS) came into existence in 1974 with the primary aim of serving black and coloured students who wished to be trained for Christian Ministry, the institution has always been racially diverse. In addition to racially diverse student body, CTBS has drawn students from several nationalities, backgrounds, and Christian traditions to participate in the high calibre of training provided at the institution. One of the true strengths of a CTBS education is its cross-cultural and multi-national exposure that enriches theological engagement through intercultural and inter-contextual ministry application.

In addition to this cross-cultural and multi-national exposure, the location of the CTBS Campus along the N2 Highway within Bridgetown, a suburb of Athlone, ensures that theological engagement is not removed from the lived experiences of the majority of South Africans.

Student Support

The CTBS vision to “Train Christian Leaders to Transform Lives and Society Biblically” depends on its ability to assist each student to develop to their fullest potential.

The Office of the Dean of Students provides spiritual and emotional support to the Cape Town Baptist Seminary student body. The Faculty may refer learners experiencing difficulty to the Dean of Students for further counselling or pastoral support. Whenever necessary the Dean of Students may refer students for professional counselling services. For information contact:

Student Representative Council

In addition, the CTBS student body elects a Student Representative Council (SRC) that provides invaluable support to fellow learners in consultation with CTBS Management. The solidarity among students on campus amid academia and numerous other circumstances has stood the Seminary in good stead over many years and continues to meet several student needs through active leadership, mentorship programmes and even addresses the physical needs of students on and off campus through its benevolence functions.
